Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for interpreting project requirements and developing new product concepts and ideas to address market opportunities and client enquiries. You will be responsible for creating engineering designs and documentation to facilitate manufacture including, drawings, bills of material and material specifications. The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the best interests of Cook Compression and will always maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism. In addition, this person will ensure Cook Compression and its employees will always meet or exceed Dover Corporation's Code of Ethics and Standards.



Responsibilities:


* Develop new product concepts and ideas to address market opportunities and client inquiries.

* Create engineering designs and documentation to facilitate manufacture including drawings, bills of materials, and material specifications.

* Collaborate with Manufacturing to facilitate efficient manufacture and assembly of prototype and production parts.

* Verify and validate new product designs through planning, support, and evaluation of laboratory and field tests.

* Develop, modify, or edit Product Service and Operations Manuals for new and existing products to enhance product performance and integrity.

* Lead and facilitate cross-functional product development teams to bring innovative new product lines to commercial status efficiently.

* Work with Supply Chain to assess outside vendors as it relates to the engineering requirements.

* Be accountable for contributing to achieving department performance metrics.

* Have some ability or exposure to material selection in aggressive environments (i.e. NACE)

* Is responsible for the safe operation of his/her area of responsibility and the safety of Cook Compression employees and customers

* Is responsible for meeting or exceeding departmental objectives by improving the efficiency and output of the engineering department

* Promote continuous improvement and implement best practices

* Engage in training activities to help co-workers increase product knowledge.



* Be able to travel to support field service centers, customers and salesmen

* Some domestic or international travel may be required

Skills:


* Excellent Mechanical aptitude

* Effective use of design tools such as 3D Computer Aided Design; Mathcad; Visual Basic; Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS); Computational Fluid Dynamics (Fluent); Thermal and Vibration Analysis.

* Project Management techniques such as scheduling, budgeting and resource planning

* Use of Microsoft Project or other scheduling software

* Ability to promote a positive atmosphere in the workplace.

* Strong problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities.

* Good negotiating skills to reach effective compromises.

* Ability to read and write English.

* Proficiency with office computers to send emails, use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and the Cook business system (currently Syteline)

* Ability to communicate to all levels of management

* Have a valid driver's license and good driving record

* Be able to travel up to10% internationally

* Computer programming skills are desirable for developing in-house application programs.



Education and Experience:


* BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering

* Experience in the gas compression/refining industry is desired but not mandatory.
