**Position Description:
The Shipping/Receiving clerk is responsible for all material movement into and out of the receiving area. Responsible for facilitating the point-of-use inventory concept currently being used in each Product Unit. Identifies and implements continuous improvement ideas and understanding and supports Lean Manufacturing principles. This position works closely with all functional areas of the plant. Company goals and objectives are supported. Inventory accuracy and proper storage of materials is a given.

Essential Functions:

Receives and delivers material to the designated location.
Checks goods received against purchase orders, bills of lading, etc. to verify quantities, part numbers, general quality and other material markings.
Visually inspects goods received for damage from handling and transit.
Sorts, counts and checks received items.
Maintains the required records.
Identifies & implements continuous improvement ideas to support Plant goals.
Updates Inventory Control System with all inventory transactions.
Operates and assortment of material handling equipment.
Adheres to the Company s attendance policies.
Work area is clean, cleaning activities conducted outside immediate work area, and tools and fixtures are stored properly at end of shift.
Avoids lost time, near misses and recordable accidents by following company safety rules. Brings to the attention of the Cell Leader any unsafe condition.
Understands company environmental policies as they apply to your work and follows these policies.
Positively contributes good ideas and suggestions, contributes significantly toward meeting the cell goals, works well with other team members, and supports the continuous improvement environment within the cell. Works overtime when requested.
Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables
Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Recalls recent situations or events that assist in problem solving
**Position Requirements:
High School Diploma
Three years shipping/receiving experience in a production environment
Ability to read shipping paperwork, ie bills of lading purchase orders
Ability to communicate with all levels of management, operations support personnel and direct labor employees
Ability to express thoughts concisely
Ability to grasp various numbering systems used to identify products, tooling, gauging and machinery
